That\u2019s because the skills required to be a great fundraiser aren\u2019t necessarily those needed to be an effective manager.<\/p>\n<p>Like many, I began my fundraising career as a gift officer and moved into management, culminating in a role in which I supervised more than 70 staff members, led a philanthropic foundation, and served on the executive cabinet of a university.
